Outdated Windows 11 Versions Put You at Risk

Updated: Sep 29

✅ Already on Windows 11? You Still Need to Check This

Even Windows 11 Users Aren’t Fully Safe. Just because you upgraded to Windows 11 doesn’t mean you’re 100% safe. Microsoft regularly rolls out new versions of Windows 11, and if your computer isn’t running the most recent one, it may no longer be receiving critical updates. That leaves you just as vulnerable as if you were still on Windows 10.

🔎 The Current Version

The newest release is Windows 11 Version 24H2.

Here’s how to check which version you have:

  1. Click the Start Menu.

  2. Type “winver” and press Enter.

  3. A window will pop up showing your Windows version, such as "Microsoft Windows 11 Version 22H2" or "Microsoft Windows 11 23H2", along with the specific OS Build number.

  • If you see 24H2, you’re up-to-date.

  • If you see an older version (like 22H2 or 23H2), your computer may already be out of support — and that puts you at risk. Don't worry I can fix it

⚠️ Why This Matters

  • Older versions of Windows 11 stop receiving security updates, even though you’re technically “on Windows 11.”

  • Certain features and apps may stop working correctly.

  • Hackers actively look for users who are behind on updates.

In other words: being on Windows 11 isn’t enough — you must also be on the latest version.

🛠️ The Fix

If your system says it can’t update to 24H2, don’t worry. I have a workaround to get you current, even on computers that Microsoft claims are “no longer supported.” This keeps your system patched, safe, and usable for years to come.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

How often does Windows 11 update?

Microsoft typically releases one major update per year (like 24H2), along with smaller updates in between. I recommend checking every few months to make sure you’re on the latest version.

How do I know if I have the latest version?

Click the Start Menu, type “winver”, and press Enter. A small window will tell you what version you’re running. The newest is 24H2.

What if my update fails?

Don’t worry. If your system says it’s no longer supported or won’t update, I have a workaround to get you current and secure.

Will updating erase my files?

It’s unlikely, but I always recommend backing up anything important first. I do everything I can to preserve your files during an update, but it’s always safest to have your own copy just in case.

Can you update my system for me?

Yes. Like Windows 10 to 11 upgrades, these updates must be done in-shop. Updates cannot be performed remotely.

How long does it take?

Most Windows 11 updates take 1–2 days, depending on your system’s age and how much data you have.

What happens if I don’t update?

If you stay on an older version, your computer will no longer receive security patches. That leaves you vulnerable to hackers and could cause apps or features to stop working.

💡 Bottom Line

👉 Already on Windows 11? Don’t assume you’re covered. Check your version today using the steps above. If you aren’t on 24H2, book an appointment — I’ll help you get up-to-date and secure.
