A HISTORY OF SERVICE
& SUPPORT
Jolene returned to her small-town roots after completing eight years’ service in the U.S. Air Force as a Client Systems Technician from 2008 to 2016, during which she completed two associate degrees, her bachelor’s in computer science, and several high-level certifications in her field.
She held several major roles with the Air Force, including two years as Manager of Information Technology Asset Management at Fairchild AFB in Eastern Washington and seven months as Supervisor of Joint Document and Media Exploitation for the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and Information Management Office Technician while serving two tours in Afghanistan.
Jolene, a native of Redding in Northern California, joined her father, Alan, and mother, Shelly, who’d recently retired to Florence, and like them, she quickly fell in love with life along the Southern Oregon coast. Her mother prompted Jolene to open her own business, and FTS Computer Repair opened in Old Town in the fall of 2016.
With Dad’s skilled nature in building the work area and designing the shop layout and Mom’s help with customers and marketing, Jolene quickly established herself as the go-to tech support shop in the Siuslaw area. She has won Best of Florence four years running in the Computer Help & Repair category from the Siuslaw News, and in 2019 won the coveted Siuslaw Award for Excellence in Customer Service.
When Mom decided to open her vintage jewelry/gift shop, Ärtêfacts, in 2019, Jolene soon afterward moved her business into the same building. Visit historic Old Town in Florence today and you’ll receive a hearty greeting from Jolene’s dogs, Sophie, Ollie, and Riley, located in the back of the store, where you’ll find Jolene ready to work for you.
When Jolene isn’t doting on her dogs or repairing computer systems, she volunteers with the Oregon Coast Military Museum and organized the restoration of Singing Pines Dog Park. She also donates refurbished computers and IT work for local charities, non-profits, and events.
